King Salman Center for Disability Research signs a Memorandum of Understanding with (Elm) Company to develop artificial intelligence applications in the field of disability

King Salman Center for Disability Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with (Elm) Company, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Salman Nonprofit Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Salman Center for Disability Research, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of (Elm) Company, Raed bin Abdullah bin Ahmed.

The MoU, signed by the Center’s CEO, Dr. Badr bin Saad Al-Hahjhoj, and Elm’s CEO, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Omayer, aims to strengthen joint cooperation between the Center and Elm — a leader in digital solutions — in research and technological development, and to explore opportunities to employ artificial intelligence in designing innovative solutions that empower persons with disabilities and improve their quality of life. The scope of cooperation includes conducting joint scientific research and studies on AI applications in the field of disability, developing digital tools that enhance accessibility and independence, as well as exchanging expertise and organizing specialized workshops.

The MoU also provides for enabling researchers to access the technical and knowledge resources available to both parties, exchanging data for research purposes within a framework that ensures privacy and complies with relevant regulations, in addition to exploring the possibility of producing prototypes of research-driven innovations and working on filing joint patents. This collaboration builds on the efforts of King Salman Center for Disability Research to establish impactful knowledge partnerships and transfer scientific and practical expertise in the field of disability. It also reflects Elm’s commitment to expanding its social responsibility by supporting impactful national initiatives.

Both parties seek to transform this MoU into a practical framework that enhances opportunities for technological innovation to serve humanity and opens new horizons for empowering persons with disabilities and improving their quality of life through advanced knowledge- and technology-driven solutions.
