On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, signed the contract for the construction of the Center’s new headquarters with a specialized Saudi company. The project includes a dedicated building to accommodate the Center’s operations and programs, as well as a second investment endowment building that will support the long-term sustainability of the Center’s activities and initiatives.
Leadership Support Strengthens the Future of Specialized Research
His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman emphasized that the generous grant from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may God preserve him—of land for the construction of the Center’s new headquarters reflects the continued care and generous support that the Center enjoys. The 6,000-square-meter site is located in Al Raed District in Riyadh. The headquarters will comprise two main buildings—one with five floors and the other with six—featuring office spaces, specialized laboratories, and parking facilities with a capacity of 300 vehicles.
His Royal Highness explained that the project is an extension of the Kingdom’s leadership’s continued support—may God support them—for scientific research and innovation. It also reaffirms the importance of leveraging knowledge and technology to develop solutions and improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities. The project will further strengthen the Center’s position as a national leader in disability research and expand its scientific impact. To date, the Center has supported more than 850 local and international research projects and over 400 specialized research groups, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s ambitions and global leadership in research, development, and innovation.
A Strategic Investment in Research Infrastructure
The new headquarters will provide dedicated spaces for partners and researchers and will include multi-purpose training facilities designed to host scientific programs, events, and conferences. Since 1992, the Center has organized international scientific conferences and is currently preparing for the 7th International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation, scheduled to take place from October 11–13, 2026, under the gracious patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may God preserve him. The conference will further reinforce the Center’s position as a global platform for knowledge exchange, scientific collaboration, and the dissemination of the latest practices in disability and rehabilitation.
Strengthening the Role of Founders and Partners
The new headquarters represents the culmination of years of support and collaborative efforts by the Center’s founders and partners. It will provide an institutional environment that sustains these partnerships while creating broader opportunities to launch high-impact initiatives and maximize their scientific and societal impact.
Inclusive Design for Universal Accessibility
The new headquarters has been designed in accordance with the highest standards of universal accessibility and energy efficiency, ensuring ease of access and use for persons with disabilities and older adults. This reflects the Center’s mission and its commitment to inclusive and human-centered design.
Audacity Toward the Future: From Vision to Reality
The permanent headquarters embodies the practical realization of the Center’s mission and its motto, “Knowledge Benefits People” and “Audacity Toward the Future.” The project incorporates flexible, multi-purpose spaces and expandable facilities that will accommodate the continued growth of the Center’s programs and future initiatives while enhancing its capacity to support expanding research and training activities.
